While fire safety is always important, it is usually stressed more so during fire prevention week in October. Fire prevention week is observed each year during the week of October 9th. During this week, children, adults and teachers learn how to stay safe in case of a fire. Here are a few fire safety books for you to read aloud in the classroom!

Fire Safety Books for Kids
No Dragons for Tea: Fire Safety for Kids by Jean E. Pendziwol
While out for a walk with her mom, a little girl has the surprise of her life — she meets a real, live, fire-breathing dragon! Now this dragon is nothing to be afraid of — in fact, he’s so friendly that she invites him home for tea. Fire! Fire! teaches beginning readers about the important job of fire fighters in the community. The book includes a glossary in the back with fire-fighting equipment keywords as well as a list of ways to prevent a fire and what to do if there is a fire.
Firefighter Pete by James Dean
In Pete the Cat: Firefighter Pete, Pete and his classmates are excited about their field trip to the firehouse. They get to slide down the pole, meet all the brave firefighters, and even try on their helmets and gear.
But when the alarm goes off, it’s time for Pete to jump on the fire truck, grab the hose, and help the firefighters save the day!
Miss Mingo and the Fire Drill by Jamie Harper
It’s Fire Safety Week in Miss Mingo’s room, which means it’s time to learn what to do in case of a fire. Of course, this isn’t your typical classroom, and Miss Mingo isn’t your average teacher!
The animals work hard to master the rules of fire safety and perform the perfect fire drill, but thinking about fire is a bit nerve-racking, and each of them reacts differently – often with hilarious results.
Learning the rules of fire safety is a lot more fun (and less scary) when demonstrated by a charming and diverse group of animals in Miss Mingo and the Fire Drill.
