As teachers, we know that reading books aloud to our students is SO important.  But sometimes, it’s hard to find quality read aloud books!  I’ve gathered a list of resources to help you find new and powerful books to share with your students.

The Nerdy Book Club

The Nerdy Book Club is a blog dedicated to sharing the love of books in the classroom.  It is a compilation of four authors who are upper elementary and high school teachers.  Each year, they host the Nerdy Book Awards, where they reflect on the top books that were released that year.  Be sure to scroll through the past few years of Nerdy Book Awards to find some great high interest picture book and novel titles!

We Need Diverse Books

We Need Diverse Books has a wonderful collection of books that represent a wide range of cultures and lifestyles.  There are many resources to help you add books to your library that allow all children to see themselves in the pages of a book.   A wonderful resource for finding stories for kids.

Do you have a Goodreads account?  I’ve always used it for keeping track of my personal books, but it’s a great way to find picture book read alouds for your class as well!  Some of my favorite authors to follow are Jillian Heise, Donalyn Miller and Colby Sharp.
