How to use this resource:

★ Teacher Guide

Each interactive read aloud includes a teacher’s guide that outlines the lesson for The Bad Seed. It provides an introduction to help prepare your students for their learning and set a purpose for the read aloud. It also includes important vocabulary words and the strands that the lesson covers.

★ Talking Points

There are higher level thinking questions and talking points to prompt student discussion. Each one has a page number so that you know exactly where in the story to stop!

These will guide students to deepen their understanding of the the social skill and respond in meaningful ways. These questions can be printed out on a one page guide or on sticky notes, which will allow you to place them right in the book!

★ Student Response

The Bad Seed interactive read aloud also comes with a written response and activity sheet to really help your students connect with the text and build their knowledge on the social skill. There are multiple response sheets that allow for differentiation. An answer key is also provided for your reference.

★ Craftivity

The Bad Seed craft provides a hands-on, engaging component to help students practice the social skill. It helps connect the focus to the picture book and to students’ lives.

★ Task Cards

The task cards can be used a few different ways. the cards could be used orally as a whole class discussion or in small groups. Students could also respond to the task cards individually on the recording sheet that is included.

The task cards provide scenarios or thought-provoking questions to help students apply the social skill to their own life.

Who is this resource for?

This resource is for classroom teachers who need a simple, yet effective way to integrate social skills into their day. This low prep resource is easy to implement, but can be used when teachers have time.

It is ideal to focus on one skill per week and there are 10 different interactive read alouds in the full bundle. All you need for the first few weeks of school!

The interactive read aloud lesson plans for Back to School (or anytime of the year!) are meaningful and engaging, yet they are are simple and can be completed in a short amount of time.
