Love by Matt de la Pena

This picture book is full of amazing imagery and themes that will spark discussion and connection. Long’s gorgeous illustrations pair with de la Peña’s message to create a special read. The diversity in the pages will allow many children to see themselves within this book.

Beautiful by Stacy McAnulty

A book that takes stereotypical ideals about beauty and gives them a unique twist. The gorgeous illustrations show beautiful girls doing science experiments, digging in the dirt and playing football. A wonderful book about the importance of loving yourself for who you are rather than what you look like.

Strictly No Elephants by Lisa Mantchev

This is one of my absolute favorite books. A young boy takes his elephant to the Pet Club, but they are sad to find out that elephants aren’t allowed. They decide to create their own Pet Club where everyone is welcome. A powerful book that reminds us that loved ones come in all shapes and sizes.
