How to Print on Sticky Notes
Anybody can print on sticky notes! All it takes is 3 easy steps!
Step 1:
First, start by printing a blank template. I’ve got a free sticky note template right here!
Step 2:
Then, add the post-it notes to the template. Place one sticky note over each box on the template (sticky side down, with the sticky part at the top). Do not overlap the sticky notes.

Step 3:
Finally, put your template with the sticky notes into your printer. It is super important that you know how paper feeds through your printer. Each one is different. Do a few test runs before you put the post-it notes on.

Wa-la! Your post-it notes have been printed on!

What Can I Print on the Sticky Notes?
Interactive Read Alouds
Sometimes, when I was doing a read aloud in my class, I would forget to stop and teach the lesson! I prepared all my teaching points ahead of time. But, then I would get so caught up in the book, that I would just read the whole thing!
So I started printing my talking points and vocabulary words on sticky notes ahead of time. This allowed me to stick them right in the book. I would know exactly where to stop.
Having the sticky notes for my interactive read alouds ready to go made my lessons go so much smoother!
Read Aloud Discussion Questions
When reading novels aloud to my class, I always wanted to have a discussion about each chapter. Some of my classes couldn’t wait to start talking. Other groups needed a little extra prompting to get them talking.
I made discussion questions to go along with many of the books that I read aloud. It allowed me to print them ahead of time and stick them right after each chapter! I could also save them from year to year, so I wasn’t recreating the wheel.
Having the read aloud discussion questions ready to go before I started the novel really helped my students dig deeper into our conversations.
Reading Graphic Organizers
Another great use for for these sticky notes is for graphic organizers!
These printable graphic organizers can be used in reading groups, during whole group lessons or even as students are reading independently. They are a great way to get students to respond to their reading.
It also gives you, as the teacher, a quick assessment. You’ll be able to easily tell if students are applying the reading skills and strategies that you are teaching. Win-win!
What else would you print on sticky notes? The possibilities are endless!
