Welcome to The Colorful Apple! I am so glad you are here! You may know me from Smiling In Second Grade.
It’s been exactly two years since I began that blog. When I started, I had no idea how much I would love blogging and that I would still be doing it two years later! Had I known what I was getting myself into, I may have chosen a less grade-specific blog name. As much as I loved the name, Smiling In Second Grade, I am moving onto bigger and better things!
Well, maybe just bigger students…I am a fifth grade teacher now! I found out at the end of the school year that I would be leaving 2nd grade and moving up. Here is a picture of my last day in my classroom of 4 1/2 years.
I was super nervous but so excited as well. I knew there were going to be many things that I would miss about being a second grade teacher {esp my teacher friends!} but I was so looking forward to working with the older students. Luckily, I not only stayed in the same district, but the same school as well. That made the transition so much easier.
Here are some early pictures of my classroom {there will be a full tour later on – don’t worry!}

Congratulations on your new blog and your new class, Sara! I'm disappointed to lose a great 2nd grade teacher from my list as this is my first year in the primary division in over 13 years! But… I spent those 13 years in 5th grade and can tell you that you're going to LOVE it!! I was disappointed to be leaving them, but I'm enjoying my new adventure! Have fun! I can't wait to see what you post!

Congratulations on a new grade! I've been teaching 2/3 for years, but fondly remember the time I spent in 6th grade. I love that age of kids because they have such great discussions and are capable of doing so much. Plus, the subject matter is very interesting. I don't have a blog, but I'd love to win anyways.
