Transform Your Read Alouds: A Free Workshop to Organize Your Year

The Reality of Classroom Read Alouds

Have you ever grabbed a book off your classroom shelf for a read aloud, started reading it to your students, and then halfway through realized it wasn’t actually teaching what you intended?

I remember rushing between lessons when I needed to teach cause and effect. I quickly selected what looked like a promising picture book, thinking I could use it without advance planning. By the middle of the story, with twenty eager faces looking up at me, that sinking realization hit: this book contained no clear cause-effect relationships. While it was a wonderful story, it was completely unsuitable for my instructional goal.

Perhaps you’ve experienced finishing a read aloud only to realize you forgot to ask any meaningful questions along the way. These challenges are real, and you’re not alone in facing them.

The Power of Effective Read Alouds

We all understand the transformative impact of well-executed read alouds. When implemented effectively, read alouds help students make remarkable connections across subject areas and internalize learning in ways that traditional instruction cannot match.

However, implementing consistent, high-quality read alouds presents significant challenges. Through conversations with hundreds of teachers, I’ve identified three primary obstacles:

  1. Time constraints – With every instructional minute scheduled, where can we fit meaningful read alouds?
  2. Book organization – Which books best teach specific comprehension strategies?
  3. Strategic questioning – How do we develop effective questions that genuinely develop comprehension?

Introducing: The “Organize Your Read Alouds” Workshop

To address these challenges, I’ve developed a free “Organize Your Read Alouds” 5-day workshop designed for busy teachers who want to make read alouds a consistent, powerful part of their instruction.

Unlike traditional professional development, this workshop delivers concrete, actionable tools you can apply immediately. Each daily session requires just 15 minutes but provides resources that benefit your teaching practice throughout the entire school year.
